Meet Fran (Drums, email, all things computer & Internet for Double Cross)
|
So it was about 1972 when Fran
started junior high on the South side
of Scranton and began to fart around
with the drums. This led to some
junior drum and bugle corps
competitions from New York to South
Carolina at age 13 thru 15 and then at
16 he ended up in a band called
“Black Diamond” with Ron. This was
cool…a bunch of kids tasting the very
beginnings of rock stardom…on a
much smaller scale of course. This
went on for almost 2 years and then
after high school Fran went into the Air
Force. Fast forward 20 years to 1998
when Fran returns to PA, now Retired
Air Force and gets a phone call from a
prior Black Diamond member. “Hey, I
heard you’re back in the area…you
still playing drums?” Fran gets
together with Ron and a few other old
friends in a group called Crossroads
and the weekend drumming gigs
become a reality once again, just like
age it was in the 70’s. So Crossroads
continues through the years and
through a few more people to 2007
when Double Cross came into
existence, formed from Double Take
and Crossroads …the names of two
other bands from which the members
came. Members of the original Double
Cross lasted about 4-1/2 years and
then in February of 2011, Ron and
Fran began a reorganization with new
members Randy and Chris as the
other 2 members chose to move on.
And so continues the journey…Fran’s
reliving his youth, playing with Double
Cross on Friday and Saturday nights
and with his church worship team on
a Saturday evening and Sunday
morning as often as needed…looking
up and keeping the party going…
